The ₹50 lakh BGMI open that the ban killed
Overview
Qualcomm Technologies announced the Snapdragon Conquest Mobile Open for BGMI in June 2022 with a headline prize pool of ₹50,00,000, roughly $67,112 in the records' figures. Registrations opened on 9 June for players aged 16 and above at Platinum V tier or higher, and the structure was one of the most ambitious open qualifiers Indian BGMI had seen: 112 open-qualifier teams plus 32 invited professional teams, running from pre-heats on 30 May through a planned Grand Finals on 4 October.
The roadmap was detailed. Open qualifiers ran 2 to 24 July, feeding a Challenger round, a Contender round, a league stage, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a Grand Finals from 26 September to 4 October. The planned prize split ran deep: ₹15 lakh for first place, ₹7.5 lakh for second, ₹4.5 lakh for third, down to 24th place, plus per-match and award bonuses. Winners were to advance to the Snapdragon Pro Series finals in Hyderabad, hosted by Qualcomm and ESL Gaming.
Then, on 28 July 2022, the Indian government had BGMI removed from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The Contender Round was scheduled to begin within days. With the game itself gone, the tournament simply stopped: no official cancellation announcement has ever been found, and no results were ever published. Esports Premier League Season 2 was postponed by the same ban, underlining that the whole scene froze at once.
Qualcomm eventually pivoted the Snapdragon Conquest IP to New State Mobile, running the New State Mobile Open and Invitational in December 2022 (won by Team XO) instead. For BGMI, the Mobile Open of 2022 remains a ghost event: announced, entered, and never played. This page records it as cancelled because community records do, not because an organiser said so; the evidence is the ban plus the total absence of results.
Snapdragon Conquest Mobile Open 2022 also announced a Most Valuable Player award worth 50,000 rupees, and that award was never given. Liquipedia marks the recipient slot as undecided and the event as cancelled, so no player can be named for it. That unawarded prize sits alongside the unpaid planned champion prize of 15 lakh rupees, and both stay recorded as planned rather than paid.
What happened
The event never happened. Qualcomm's ₹50 lakh open qualifier was announced in June 2022, took registrations, and was then swallowed by the BGMI ban of 28 July 2022, four days before the Contender Round. No matches beyond early qualifiers were ever played.
