TechFest Gaming Challenge 2019: VSG Crawlers won the IIT Bombay finals

Overview

IIT Bombay's TechFest closed its 2019 gaming programme with the TechFest Gaming Challenge, a PUBG Mobile competition run by the festival team in Mumbai. Liquipedia lists the finals on 28 December 2019, after online knockout rounds, with sixteen teams playing five TPP squad matches for a prize pool of Rs 2,00,000.

Entry ran through open online knockout lobbies, where the top four teams from each room progressed through the rounds. The sixteen finalists were then invited to the finals, a route that mixed established circuit names with open-qualifier squads chasing a festival title.

VSG Crawlers, built around Roach, CG, EvoO and Sangwan, finished on top of the finals order, with Force One second and TeamTROLLx third. H2O and R3HABILITATION completed the top five in the published placements, which ran down to TeamXBot in sixteenth.

The finals were squad TPP matches played across Erangel, Miramar, Sanhok and Vikendi, five matches in all. Scoring paid twenty points for a match win, fourteen for second and ten for third, tapering to a single point for eleventh through sixteenth, with one point added for every kill.

The Rs 2,00,000 pool was never broken down by placement in the published record, and no per-match points or kills were published for the finals either. A finals recording linked from the Liquipedia page survives on YouTube, and the placements in it match the order recorded here.
