Elite Esports finished 1st at Club Open - Spring Split: China Championship 2019
Elite Esports, competing as ELG, are a Chinese mobile team whose finest hour came before the PEL era, in the global Club Open of 2019. The club itself was formed in May 2018, and its PUBG Mobile side won the China championship of the 2019 Spring Split before travelling to the global finals, where it finished third in the world.
That international podium is the standout line on the record, but the domestic story continued. ELG played through the PEL's 2020 seasons and finished second in Season 3 of that year, behind the champions, and took fifth place at the Peacekeeper Elite Championship in November 2020.
The mobile division wound down in March 2021, yet the combination of a national title, a world top-three finish and a PEL runners-up spot is far stronger than many longer-lived teams manage. Elite Esports deserve a page on those results alone, and the dates keep the rise and fall in clear order.
