Global Esports won the THUG Invitational Season 5
Overview
The THUG Invitational Season 5 ran from 18 to 25 May 2022 with a Rs 8,00,000 prize pool (about $10,330), and Global Esports won it. Villager Esports organised the event with 8bit_Thug, sponsored by Monster Energy, LOCO, AORUS, and Intel, with 16 teams in the grand finals online. Global took Rs 4,00,000 for the title, Enigma Gaming finished second for Rs 2,00,000, and Chemin Esports took third for Rs 1,00,000.
Global won the four-day grand finals with 290 points from 24 matches, including 4 chicken dinners and 138 finish points. Enigma and Chemin both finished on 260 points behind them. The league stage from 9–17 May had told a different story: Chemin topped it with 173 points from 32 teams, so the finals were a reversal in Global's favour.
Individual honours were spread across three teams. Troye of Entity Gaming was named MVP per Liquipedia, Chemin's CesDeltaPG made the top five fraggers with 39 finishes, and Justin CesJUSTIN topped the league-stage fragging charts with 33. A Liquipedia prize-row error listing an implausible fifth-place prize is noted here and not repeated as fact.
The confirmed record here covers the champion, the top three, the prize split, the dates, the format, and the award winners. The fifth-place prize figure on Liquipedia is an entry error and is treated as unreliable.
THUG Invitational Season 5 closed with Team XO fourth on 231 points and Reckoning Esports fifth on 206, behind the 260 point tie between Enigma Gaming and Chemin Esports. Entity Gaming finished sixth on 189 points. K18, kRaT and SardarjiYT called the finals, and the event ran with 16 invited teams in the grand finals.
