Nigma Galaxy won the Rooter Invitational Series 2022
Overview
The Rooter Invitational Series ran from 25 July to 3 August 2022 with a Rs 15,00,000 prize pool (about $18,962), and Nigma Galaxy won it ahead of Chemin Esports. InsideSport reported that Nigma led the table after day five of the finals with 380 points, and the final order had Chemin second for Rs 3,50,000 and Revenge Esports third for Rs 1,50,000. Rooter organised the event in association with Sky Esports, with 32 teams starting online.
The format rewarded consistency across two phases. A league stage from 25 to 28 July split 32 teams into four groups, and 24 of them reached the grand finals from 29 July to 3 August. Crucially, the points table carried over instead of resetting, so every league-stage point counted toward the title. The top 16 finishers also earned slots at the Rooter Pro Series LAN, which gave the online event a tangible next step.
This tournament is historically unusual because of when it was played. On 28 July 2022, midway through the event, Google Play and the App Store removed BGMI in India under Section 69A of the IT Act, yet the online competition continued to its scheduled finish. That context makes the Rooter Invitational one of the last big BGMI events of the pre-ban window.
The confirmed record for this event covers the champion, the top three, the prize split, the dates, the format, and the organiser. Apollo of Nigma Galaxy took the MVP award of Rs 20,000 and finished as the top fragger with 65 finishes.
Nigma Galaxy's title lineup was MJ, Max, DreamS, Wixxky, Apollo and Artemis, the six names on the champion team card.
How it went
