Global Esports edged GodLike by four points at the first televised LAN

Overview

The first BGMI Masters Series ran from 24 June to 17 July 2022 and ended with Global Esports as champions of the first televised LAN in Indian esports. NODWIN Gaming staged the event at its Gaming Arena in New Delhi with Star Sports carrying the broadcast. Twenty four teams played three league weeks, the top sixteen reached a five-day Grand Finals, and Global Esports won it on 201 points with 100 kills from 20 matches. The champions took twenty five lakh rupees and a Hyundai Venue car from a pool of one and a half crore.

GodLike Esports finished second on 197 points and took twelve lakh rupees, four points short after leading the table on two of the five final days. Orangutan were third on 192 points with 79 kills and three chicken dinners. Team SouL, the form side of that summer, faded late and finished sixth, but left with the Fan Favourite Team award. The final day decided everything: Global Esports climbed from fifth to first while GodLike were eliminated early in the last match with a single point.

The MVP award went to the runners-up. Jonathan of GodLike was named the most valuable player of the Grand Finals with 37 eliminations and 8163 damage across his 20 matches, collecting fifty thousand rupees, and he also took the Damager award worth twenty five thousand. GodLike had arrived as favourites with Jonathan, Neyoo, ZGod, Shadow and ClutchGod under coach Abhijeet Ghatak Andhare, and the four-point margin is still one of the tightest in the history of Indian LAN finals.

Twenty four teams played three league weeks, then sixteen contested a five-day Grand Finals; Global Esports scored 201 to GodLike's 197.

The champion team card lists Manya, Rony, Jokerr, AJ and NakuL as the Global Esports lineup that lifted the first Masters Series trophy.
