Team SouL is the organisation Naman 'Mortal' Mathur built around his own PUBG Mobile roster, created on 21 December 2018 according to Liquipedia's team listing. At a time when Indian mobile esports had almost no professional structure, SouL operated as an independent organisation: Mortal owned the team, played for it, and was its public face. The roster's early results made the name famous well beyond its own audience.
SouL won the PUBG Mobile India Series in March 2019 and the PUBG Mobile Club Open 2019 Spring India split, the two biggest Indian titles of that season, and carried India's flag in the game's first global events. Those wins turned a player owned team into the country's reference point for mobile esports, and they are the reason later organisations measured themselves against the SouL name.
In October 2020 SouL stopped being a standalone organisation. It merged with 8Bit Creatives, the organisation of Animesh 'Thug' Agarwal and Lokesh 'Goldy' Jain, to form S8UL Esports, and Liquipedia now describes Team SouL as a team that competes under the parent company S8UL Esports. The name survived the merger as the playing identity: the current BGMI lineup, captained by Nakul, won BGIS 2026 and the BMSD 2026 Grand Finals in Hyderabad while printed as iQOO Soul on KRAFTON leaderboards.
